Sunday Worship at St. Thomas
Sundays are our biggest lift—and it takes all of us to make worship happen. From greeting at the door to serving at the altar, from singing in the choir to working quietly behind the scenes, there’s a place for you. Explore the many ways you can participate and help make Sundays at St. Thomas welcoming, joyful, and grace-filled. There are two services: 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
Acolyte Ministry
Acolyte is a general term that includes servers, torchbearers, candle lighters, crucifers, thurifers, and banner-bearers. Youth beginning in 3rd grade can participate in this ministry. Commitment: Continual Rhythm.
Altar Guild
The Altar Guild cares for the altar, vestments, vessels, and linens that support our worship. Members share the work by preparing the chapel and sanctuary for services, tidying up afterward, or washing a small set of linens each week. Commitment: Continual Rhythm
Audio/Visual Ministry
The AV Ministry supports our weekly worship by live-streaming it on YouTube. No experience is necessary to join this ministry. Training is available. Commitment: Continual Rhythm
Bulletin Buddies
Kids (with a parent or adult) help welcome everyone by handing out bulletins before worship. A simple, cheerful way to serve together! Commitment: For a Season (August to May)
Bulletin Folding Team
On Fridays, we gather to fold the bulletins used for Sunday service. Commitment: Continual Rhythm
Chalice Bearers
This ministry is a lay person who assists in administering the consecrated elements of the Eucharist. Commitment: Continual Rhythm
Children's Chapel
Help create a welcoming space for children to worship, learn, and engage with their faith during the 10:30 a.m. service. Serve as a Children’s Chapel leader or as a second adult providing support. Children leave for Chapel after the Gospel and return to worship later in the service. Commitment: For a Season (August to May)
Gathering Tree
After the 10:30 a.m. service, we gather under the trees for light snacks and conversation (weather permitting). Help by setting up, serving, cleaning up, or bringing something to share. It’s a simple way to extend our worship into fellowship. Commitment: For a Season (August to May)
Greeter Ministry
The Greeter Ministry is vital to our hospitality, welcoming current members and guests on Sunday mornings. Commitment: For a Season (August to May)
Music Ministry: Adult Choir
The Adult Choir is an essential part of worship. Rehearsals are Thursdays at 7:15 p.m.
Music Ministry: Bell Choir
Our Bell Choir rehearses on Thursdays at 6:00 p.m. No experience necessary! Commitment: For a Season (August to May)
Music Ministry: Instrumental Accompanist
Join the St. Thomas Music Ministry as an instrumental accompanist.
Music Ministry: Minor Miracles
Music Ministry: Minor Miracles - Our children and youth choir, Minor Miracles, is directed by Susan Lapeyre. They meet on Wednesdays at 5:15 p.m. to learn, sing, and share the joy of music in worship. All voices are welcome! Commitment: For a Season (August to May)
Parking Lot Attendant
Help make Sunday mornings welcoming from the moment people arrive. Parking Lot Attendants help direct cars, make the best use of available parking spaces, and assist older adults and others who may need easier access to the church. This ministry helps everyone arrive safely and get to worship with a little less stress. Commitment: For a Season (September to May)
Reader
This ministry reads the Scripture and the Prayers of the People during worship services. Click here to download the Lector's Handbook. Commitment: Continual Rhythm
Usher
This ministry welcomes by handing out service bulletins, collecting the offerings, and helping the congregation get to communion. Commitment: Continual Rhythm
Wednesdays at St. Thomas
Every Wednesday night, about 80 of us gather for dinner, laughter, and programs for children, youth, and adults. These evenings are a true gift of fellowship—and they only happen because we pitch in together.
We know the gifts are here among us! Serving on Wednesday nights is one of the simplest, most tangible ways to bless your St. Thomas Church.
Cook a Main Course
Share your skills (or team up with friends!) and bring the main dish. Everyone else brings the sides. One Time — Help with a single event or project or Occasionally — Serve when a need arises or when your schedule allows.
Serve with Joy
Help with plating, refilling, and making sure everyone feels cared for at the table. One Time — Help with a single event or project or Occasionally — Serve when a need arises or when your schedule allows.
Clean Up Together
Stay after to tidy the kitchen and dining area so it’s ready for the next day. One Time — Help with a single event or project or Occasionally — Serve when a need arises or when your schedule allows.
Children & Youth
Help us create a safe, joyful, and faith-filled space for the youngest members of St. Thomas! On Sundays and Wednesdays, you can serve by being a caring presence.
Sometimes the most important role is simply being the second adult—supporting the leader, helping kids stay engaged, and ensuring a safe, welcoming space (with a little crowd control when needed!).
All ministry partners complete a background check and Safeguarding God’s Children training so that together we provide the safest environment possible. Your presence makes a lasting difference as we grow in faith.
Godly Play Second Adult (Sunday)
On Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m., children ages 4 through 1st grade gather for Godly Play—a Montessori-based curriculum rooted in storytelling and play. Children are invited into a space of wonder and curiosity as they explore the stories of our faith.
Our Godly Play storyteller always needs a second adult present. This important role ensures a safe, welcoming, and faith-filled environment for our youngest members—simply by being present, supportive, and attentive. Commitment: For a Season (September to May)
2-4 Grade Sunday School - Second Adult
On Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m., youth in grades 2-4 gather for Sunday School. A second adult plays an important role in ensuring a safe, welcoming, faith-filled environment simply by being present, supportive, and attentive. Commitment: For a Season (September to May)
Every Way & All the Rest
Not every act of service fits neatly into Sundays or Wednesdays—and that’s what makes this ministry so special. From setting up events to seasonal decorating, from baking to behind-the-scenes help, this is where all the everyday, everywhere acts of love come together. If you’re willing to lend a hand where it’s needed most, this is your spot.
Annual Meeting
Help provide hospitality for our Annual Meeting, typically held at 9:00 a.m. near the end of January. Volunteers can help prepare and set up breakfast before the meeting, clean up afterward, or both. Commitment: One Time
Holy Smokers
Grill for Wednesday's dinners and other special events. Commitment: For a Season (September to May)
Kick Off Sunday
Help provide hospitality for Kickoff Sunday, typically held near the end of August as we begin a new fall season at St. Thomas. Volunteers can help prepare and set up the meal, clean up afterward, or both. Commitment: One Time
Lay Eucharistic Visitor
Bring Holy Communion to members of St. Thomas who are unable to join us for worship in person. Lay Eucharistic Visitors extend the care and presence of our congregation beyond Sunday worship, helping those who are homebound or otherwise unable to attend remain connected to our shared life. Commitment: Occasionally
Receptions
Receptions - Serve on the team that provides care through receptions as needed, including funerals and special gatherings. This ministry offers comfort, welcome, and support in times of both joy and sorrow. Commitment: Occasionally
Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner
Help make our Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper a fun and festive evening! Held on the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday, volunteers can help with shopping, food prep, cooking, setting up, or cleaning up. Choose the task that works best for you and help us serve up plenty of pancakes and hospitality! Commitment: One Time
Sunday Breakfast Teams
Join a Breakfast Team! On the first Sunday of each month, teams cook, serve, and share breakfast with our community—plus handle the clean-up afterward. It’s a fun and simple way to serve with others while blessing the whole church. Commitment: For a Season (September to May)
