Welcome to Lent 2012! This year I am inviting each St. Thomas household to a time of intentional prayer and reflection, but one that you will enter into on what- ever day you choose. Think of it as a kind of "independent study". Instead of the St. Thomas family gathering collectively one night a week in the parish hall, I’m asking that each household take time to reflect and partake of a simple supper. You may choose to do this on Wednesday evenings, like our youth group is doing, or you may do this at another time which better suits the rhythm of your household.
Each week as you sit down to enjoy your simple meal, allow one of the following "table talks" to inspire your reflection. These table talks were lovingly prepared by our Director of Christian Formation, Rachel Graves. Each table talk includes an action item too, which makes tangible the intangible sense of gratitude we hope will be kindled by these reflections.
At the end of the Lenten season, the money collected will be given to Calvary Episcopal Church in Bastrop. As you know, the community of Bastrop still suffers mightily from last fall's devastating wildfires. Our journey through Lent will be made even richer by the opportunity to share what we have with others.
Blessings to you on this journey!
