Welcome to St. Thomas Episcopal Church

Christian Education

The purpose of Christian education at St. Thomas goes beyond teaching about Christianity, although a knowledge of the history of the faith and of our Episcopal tradition are important to who we are. Christian education is about formation, about growing into our baptismal identity as followers of the risen Christ called to ministry in the world. Christian education is offered to all ages on Sunday morning from 9:40 am to 10:20 am following the parish breakfast. Adult Forum meets in the parish hall in the Ministry Center. The location of each of the children’s classes is posted outside of the Ministry Center and in the narthex of the sanctuary. The youth meet in the Youth Room on the second floor of the Ministry Center.

Children’s Sunday School. We use an Episcopal curriculum for ages 3 through sixth grade that engages children in the discovery of scripture, the traditions of the Episcopal Church, the needs of the world, and the ways in which Christians are called to serve.

Youth Sunday School. In addition to our Sunday evening program (which begins with a Contemporary Eucharist with music and preaching geared toward youth), middle and high schoolers meet on Sunday morning to reflect on scriptural lessons through clips from contemporary films.

Adult Forum. The rector leads a provocative and interactive consideration of the lectionary readings or of matters central to the practice or life of the church (e.g., baptism, the Nicene Creed, etc.). Discussion is informal and lively.

Vacation Bible School. Each summer, children gather daily for a fun week of stories, craft, songs, games, and worship around a central theme.

Library. St. Thomas maintains a library with hundreds of books and resources in the Ministry Center. Staffed by volunteers, the Library provides a wealth of material on faith, prayer, spirituality, the Episcopal Church, and more.
